Tripartite meeting in Ras el Naqoura

The Army Headquarters - Directorate of Orientation issued the following statement:  
On 05/04/2016 at 9.30, a tripartite meeting was held in Ras el Naqoura, presided by the UNIFIL Commander Major General Lucciano Portolano and with the presence of a delegation from LAF Officers headed by the coordinator of the Lebanese Government Brigadier General Mohammad Janbay. Discussions focused on the implementation of resolution 1701 as well as the recent events in the South of Litani.
The Lebanese delegation focused on the Israeli trespasses in air, on land and at sea and stressed the role of the LAF in fighting terrorism as well as the role of the UNIFIL and the importance of committing to the resolution 1701. The delegation also condemned the erosion works performed by the Israeli enemy in the occupied territories of Chebaa farms and demanded their immediate cessation. Moreover, the delegation demanded the cessation of any Israeli activities in the disputed regions and stressed the fact that the Lebanese government has declared its respect to the blue line and confirmed that it is a withdrawal line and not a border line. The government has also confirmed its respect to the resolution 1701 and its stipulations and valued the role of the UNIFIL in the implementation of this resolution.
Major General Portolano reminded that the resolution 1701 obligates Israel to withdraw immediately from the North of Ghajar and to cease its air raids above Lebanon. General Portolano also encouraged both sides to reach field arrangements contributing to the treatment of unresolved issues such as the continuous demarcation of the blue line and agreeing on measures in the case of disputed zones. Major General Portolano also insisted on the necessity to use a coordination and liaison mechanisms with the UNIFIL in order to preserve stability in the UNIFIL operations one, reaching the blue line
