The Armed forces Commander General Joseph Aoun visited this morning the Military Healthcare Unit in Badaro and toured its sections while inspecting the work conduct in the buildings of the retired, martyr families, disabled and kidneys, that are being modernized with equipment as well as the blood lab and the tissue lab in addition to the sections of teeth, eyes, radiology and incurable diseases. General Aoun also inspected the medical committees of the military academy and the recruitment of males and females. Moreover, General Aoun visited patients in the hospital and was informed of their medical condition.

After the tour, General Aoun met with the head of the Healthcare unit and the medical staff and expressed his ultimate support for this vital sector in the LAF. He said: “my visit today is an expression of the ultimate trust offered by the Army command to the military healthcare. I am proud of you and your will as well as your medical services that you offer, which we all benefit from, whether retired or in actual duty.” “To everybody’s acknowledgment, the medical sector witnessed a qualitative leap and it seems to be accomplishing further progress a year from now. To us, healthcare is as important as any special unit in the LAF, as it is the unit that a soldier remains connected to his entire life, even after retiring. Therefore, we aim with all our available capabilities to improve and develop this sector.”

The Armed Forces Commander considered that developing this sector is a long way. However, it starts with one step and the healthcare unit has so far managed to take major steps. “we feel with the patients who bother to commute for long distances to arrive to the military hospital due to the fact that infirmaries cannot meet medical needs. Therefore, we aim to increase the number of infirmaries in the regions and develop the military hospital that no longer fits the required number.”
