Ceremony in honor of the UNIFIL
On the occasion of the 73rd Army Day, Tyre rest house restaurant hosted a ceremony thrown in honor of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon in the presence of the Member of the Military Council Brigadier General P.S.C Georges Shreim who represented the LAF Commander General Joseph Aoun and the International Force Commander Major General Stefano Del Col, a number of officers as well as religious and official figures. The South Litani Sector Commander Brigadier General Robert el-Alam delivered a speech on the occasion in which he welcomed the guests and expressed his appreciation to the troops of the International Force for their sacrifices and loyalty to the mission they were charged with. Major General Del Col also delivered a speech in which he praised the patriotic role that LAF is undertaking in the south while confirming the attachment to the high level of cooperation and coordination between both sides and the International Force’s keen interest in forging the best relations with the southern citizens.
Fyrthermore, Major General Shreim delivered a speech in which he said: Several bright memories are present with us in this gathering. Memories filled with deep meanings and high values. The anniversary of the establishment of the Lebanese Armed Forces also brings back to our minds the journey that joined both our soldiers and those of the UNIFIL, sharing the message of honor and military conduct. Here they are, working on preserving the security of southern borders according to Resolution 1701 and tackling violations committed by the Israeli enemy. It is worth mentioning as well the contribution of both LAF and UNIFIL to strengthening the resistance of the citizens in their land, through different aids and development projects that are directly related to their daily lives and social affairs.
