Clarification concerning the arrest of underage youngsters in Jounieh

The Army Command – Directorate of Orientation issued the following statement:

Media outlets spread news that the Army has arrested a group of underage youngsters and students who were protesting in the city of Jounieh.

The Army Command denies these unfounded allegations claiming the arrest of underage individuals and confirms the arrest of the following youngsters: Bachir Toubiya (1983), Robert el-Tannoury (1979), Joe Azar (1994) and George el-Beaino (1995). The individuals who were arrested had been instigating the students to block the road and they were released afterward when the investigation process was completed.

The Army Command calls upon media outlets to provide accuracy and balance before disseminating any information or news related to the military institution.
