The Army Command – Directorate of Orientation issued the following statement:

A number of news outlets and social media pages reported a fake statement attributed to the LAF Command that included claims of 10 LAF 2nd Land Border Regiment troops being infected with COVID-19. The news also reported that the said troops and their families are currently being isolated.
The LAF denies the news reported in this statement altogether and confirms that preventive and necessary measures have been taken while no confirmed cases were reported among the soldiers and officers of the 2nd Land Border Regiment except for the case of the officer that the Command declared his infection yesterday, the latter being in good condition and receiving medical treatment.
The Army Command cautions against the dangers of fabricating news and attributing them to the Military Institution particularly during these critical circumstances that the country is witnessing.
The Army Command renews its calls for all media outlets to seek precision while dealing with news related to the Military Institution and to resort to the official news issued by the Directorate of Orientation Directorate through its statements and through its official pages on social media platforms.
