Meetings of the Armed Forces Commander General Joseph Aoun

The Armed Forces Commander General Joseph Aoun began his visit to the USA in order to participate in the annual meeting that will be held in order to evaluate the US aid, with a meeting with the chief of staff of land forces General James Mc Conville who will be soon named as Chief of Staff. Discussions focused on the general situation in the region and the achievements of the LAF and the parties stressed on the necessity of the US support to the LAF in order to assist it in performing its missions at the borders and inside the country.

General Aoun met with the United States Under Secretary of State for Political Affairs, Ambassador David Hale who confirmed that his country aims to achieve permanent stability in Lebanon, particularly the South.

Afterwards, General Aoun held several other meetings with the head of the Armed Forces committee in the congress James Einhoff and Michael McColl, member of the Foreign Policy Committee in the congress as well as Mac Thornberry, Member of the House Armed Services Committee who has previously visited Lebanon last year. The meeting parties confirmed the continuous support to the LAF that is proving to be capable to control security and stability in Lebanon amidst the circumstances facing the region.
