Security incident between the security detail of MPs and protesters at the municipality of Halba

The Army Command – Directorate of Orientation issued the following statement

On 28/3/2020 during a gathering held by Akkar MPs and officials in the municipality of Halba to launch a fundraiser campaign for Halba governmental hospital, protesters attempted to enter the municipality building. This attempt led to a security incident between the protesters and the MPs’ members of security detail and one of the security agents opened fire in the air to disperse the protesters without causing any casualties.

An army unit intervened, cordoned off the area and restored order.
