Smugglers pursued and arrested in Ras Baalbek

The Army Command - Directorate of Orientation issued the following statement:

On 12/06/2021, around 15:30, while a LAF patrol in Ras Baalbek was chasing a van loaded with fuel intended for smuggling with 3 people inside, they pointed their weapons at the patrol members, and the driver tried to run over the soldiers who had to open fire, injuring (M.M.); he was taken to the hospital and soon passed away. The patrol arrested (I.M) and (A.H), and seized a quantity of weapons and a Rapide car with a grenade inside.

The seized items were handed over and investigations with the arrested individuals began under the supervision of the competent judicial authorities.
