Suspects arrested and items seized

The Army Command – Directorate of Orientation issued the following statement:

A Lebanese Army unit arrested 3 suspects in the town of Akroum – Akkar. During the arrest, army troops seized a tractor, a trailer and 3 motorcycles carrying food substances and 5 tons of chopped plastic which were meant to be smuggled through the northern border between Lebanon and Syria. The Army also arrested 5 other suspects and seized 2 vehicles, one of them proved to be stolen, in addition to a van loaded with a large quantity of smuggled shoes at el-Shanbouk checkpoint in Akkar.

Within the efforts and actions taken to prevent smuggling, an army unit seized a flock of sheep that was smuggled inside Lebanese territories through a newly created porous border area. The smugglers fled toward the Syrian territories.

The suspects and the seized items were turned in to the valid judiciary authorities.
