Visitors of the Armed Forces Commander General Joseph Aoun

The Armed Forces Commander General Joseph Aoun received in his office in Yarzeh the Commander of the US Central Command General Joseph Votel who was heading an accompanying delegation with the presence of Ambassador Elizabeth Richard and Defense Attaché Colonel Daniel Mouton where they discussed the bilateral relations between both armies as well as the various needs of the LAF in the frame of the US aid intended for the LAF.

Afterwards, a meeting was held in the briefing room that was attended by the Armed Forces Commander and the Chief of Staff Major General P.S.C Hatem Mallak along with the US delegation and British Ambassador Mr. Hugo Shorter and the Commander of the UNIFIL Major General Michael Beary. The visitors attended a presentation prepared by high ranked officers concerning the situation at the Lebanese borders as well as the missions of the land borders and the south Litani sector and the technical, logistic and combat needs of these units.

General Votel confirmed in his speech that the support of the LAF will continue through offering aids. General Votel announced the delivery of 6 MD530G helicopters and 6 Scan Eagle drones. General Votel also commended the accomplishment of the LAF in the “Dawn of the Outskirts” operation.

The Armed Forces Commander and the US delegation then visited the Military Academy in Fiyadiye where the Commander of the Academy and several officers received them. The delegation attended a presentation by an officer concerning the divisions of the academy and the lessons provided to cadet officers. The delegation also visited the language lab offered by the US army in addition to the other divisions.

Furthermore, General Votel met with the cadet officers and discussed with them, then signed the gold record of the academy. In addition, General Votel and Ambassador Richard received a commemorative shield from the commander of the Academy.
