Workshop at the Strategic Research and Studies Center entitled: the policy of retirement and social protection

The Strategic Research and Studies Center organized today at the center’s conference room a workshop entitled: the policy of retirement and social protection. The workshop was attended by the Minister of Labor MP Mohammad Kabbara, the head of the Parliamentary health committee MP Atef Majdalani in addition to experts in the field, academics, representatives of insurance agencies and the private sector and Lebanese Army officers as well as representatives of the following ministries: Labor, finance and social affairs.
The workshop was initiated with a speech delivered by the Director of Strategic Research and Studies Center Brigadier General Fadi Abi Farraj who welcomed the participants and confirmed the crucial importance of social protection which represents a key factor in consolidating the political and security stability and plays a positive role in the frame of strengthening the national feeling of belonging to a state in which everyone is equal in right and obligations. Furthermore, minister Kabbara delivered a speech in which he confirmed that the main rights of citizens are not an extra privilege that is granted to them by their bosses or the state. It is rater an obligation and the parliament should adopt the social protection project. Moreover, MP Majdalani delivered a speech in which he described the current social healthcare map in Lebanon and presented 3suggestions related to the healthcare card of the unassured fraction in any healthcare system as well as providing healthcare to the insured after the age of retirement as well as senior insurance. A discussion ring took place afterwards in which participants discussed the current reality of the retirement system and social protection as well as insurance companies and the retirement age in Lebanon and the way to develop it through scientific and realistic approaches.
An ending session also took place, where Brigadier General P.S.C Abi Farraj recited the closing statement and the recommendations.
