VISITORS OF THE LEBANESE ARMY COMMANDER-IN-CHIEF

The Lebanese Army Commander-in-Chief, General Rodolph Haykal, received in his office in Yarzeh the Chief of Defence of the Netherlands, General Onno Eichelsheim, and an accompanying delegation, following an invitation extended by General Haykal. The visit took place from 21 to 23 June 2026.
Following the official honors ceremony, General Eichelsheim laid a wreath at the Monument of the Unknown Soldier in the courtyard of the Ministry of National Defense, in the presence of the Army Commander and members of the military command. The ceremony was followed by a symbolic military parade.
During the meeting, discussions focused on the general situation in Lebanon and the region in light of current developments, as well as ways to strengthen cooperation between the armed forces of the two countries. General Haykal also expressed his appreciation to the Dutch authorities for their continued support of the Army.
For his part, General Eichelsheim praised the role of the Lebanese Army in maintaining security and preserving stability in Lebanon, affirming his country's commitment to continuing its support for the Army amid the current exceptional circumstances.
