Tuesday, 08 March 2022

The Army Commander in Chief General Joseph Aoun visited the Marine Commandos Regiment in Amchit. He toured the regiment's sections and training workshops, and attended a maneuver carried out by diving instructors, simulating a dive in difficult underwater conditions.
General Aoun also inspected the reconnaissance equipment of the Land Air Group Integration (LAGI), and the naval interception combat boats. He attended a briefing about the regiment and the missions it performs, especially in these delicate circumstances.
He then addressed the regiment's members saying: "The military institution is still cohesive and able to fulfill its role despite all challenges, and the credit is due to you, for your insistence on steadfastness and facing crises with determination and loyalty. We have only one option, which is to stay in our homeland, and we will not leave it no matter how severe the difficulties. We will remain committed to protecting it until this crisis is passed, which is more difficult than wars and military battles. You have been trained to face difficulties and challenges, so do not lose confidence and hope.”
General Aoun pointed out that the the Army Command is still working with friendly countries and armies to provide aid and support to its members, noting that the army is subjected to campaigns and pressures on more than one level. He said: "Be confident that the army is steadfast in the face of all these challenges. The stage is difficult, delicate and requires great awareness, especially since we are coming to critical goals, and we are ready to keep pace with them, but unfortunately some are using this situation to target the army. We are very aware of this, and we will not let anyone undermine the morale of our troops. What we do is based on our belief, conviction and concern towards the homeland despite all the political, social and economic conditions.
General Aoun touched on the file of maritime border demarcation and said: "The army accomplished its technical mission in the indirect negotiations to demarcate the maritime borders based on a mandate from the political authority, and thus our role ended at this point. Therefore, as I announced earlier about a year ago, and later through an official statement, the military institution supports any decision taken by the political authority in the matter of demarcation. We are not concerned with any media analysis or position claiming to be that of our institution, or related to the Army Command. Our formal position is announced by me personally or through formal statements issued by the Directorate of Orientation. Our position hold no ambiguity as claimed by some who seek to exploit this issue for personal and political purposes.
In conclusion, the Army Commander in Chief addressed the female soldiers and congratulated them on International Women's Day, praising their role and performance.
