The LAF Army Commander visits the Dahiye Security Office, the Beirut Region Intelligence Branch, and the leadership of the 3rd Intervention Regiment
The LAF Commander, General Joseph Aoun, inspected the Dahiye security office in Henry Chehab barracks, in the presence of the Director of Intelligence, Brigadier General P.S.C. Tony Al Kahwaji. He met officers and soldiers, then listened to a briefing about their missions and the difficulties they face and congratulated them on their sacrifices and exceptional achievements. He stated: "You are facing daily dangers in your mission to combat crimes, whose rate has increased following the economic crisis, including kidnapping, theft, robbery, and drug use, whose danger exceeds terrorism as it spreads like poison, enters families and destroys them. You eradicate this danger daily and pursue the death dealers responsible for it, armed with your belief in the sanctity of the mission, your sense of security, your discipline and your professionalism, which prevents casualties among innocent civilians."
He added, "Our goal is to protect Lebanon and its people, including our people in Dahiye. We will continue to shoulder our responsibilities in confronting gangs and outlaws, because the country deserves our most precious sacrifices, and this is what our oath, our conscience, and our school dictate to us, the school of honor, sacrifice, and loyalty."
General Aoun praised the success of the Intelligence Directorate personnel, along with their comrades from other units, in liberating the kidnapped Saudi Mashari Al-Mutairi within 48 hours and arresting a large number of those involved in his kidnapping, pointing out that their achievement is a medal on their chest because of its great positive impact on Lebanon's reputation, and proof that security is maintained thanks to the army, and they saved the promising tourist season. He also indicated that their efforts are complementary to the efforts of their comrades who are deployed at home and on the borders despite all the challenges to protect Lebanon, stressing that the leadership feels their suffering and continues to make efforts to secure medical care for them and their families, and support the transportation plan. He also called on them to disregard rumors, accusations and fabrications, stressing that aid will continue to support the army and its personnel.
The Army Commander visited the Beirut Region Intelligence Branch in Mathaf, where he addressed the officers and soldiers, saying: "When I look into your eyes, I see your faith in the homeland and touch your solid will, which are your true weapons. You carry out your missions to the fullest extent despite the crisis majeure, and you maintain security and stability in different areas of Beirut, with your wisdom and discipline."
We, as well as the Lebanese residents and expatriates are proud of you. Thanks to you, the army has become a source of confidence at home and abroad. Focus on your main goal, which is Lebanon, for whom we fulfill the duty in full and sacrifice our lives if necessary.
Then, General Aoun visited the command of the 3rd Intervention Regiment in Al-Manara, where he addressed the personnel: “We have taken an oath to defend our homeland in all circumstances, in times of peace and crisis alike, and thus we deserve the motto of honor, sacrifice and loyalty. Your basic training focuses on combat missions, However, what you are doing at home is more difficult because you deal with your family in preserving civil peace with high professionalism and discipline.”
He concluded by saying: "You are the backbone of Lebanon, its salvation and the reason for its survival."
