Six individuals arrested in different regions, and attempts to smuggle Syrians across the border thwarted as part of security measures.
The Lebanese Army Command – Directorate of Orientation issued the following statement:
As part of the security measures carried out by the military institution in various regions, a patrol from the Intelligence Directorate arrested in Douris - Baalbek the citizens (M.T.) and (AA.T.) and the Palestinian (M.A.) for forming a gang involved in robbery, drug promoting, firearms trafficking, and counterfeiting currency. An amount of hashish and counterfeit money was found in their possession.
In addition, the army units arrested 3 individuals as follows:
• Citizen (AA.A.) in Shadra - North, for opening fire that resulted in the death of one person and the injury of others, and for smuggling Syrians into Lebanese territory. The citizen (R.A.) in the same town was arrested for transporting a wanted person, facilitating his movements, and engaging in fraud and deception.
• Citizen (M.S.) in Tallet Al Asta - Akkar, for smuggling Syrians into Lebanese territory. An amount of hashish and counterfeit money was seized in his possession.
Furthermore, army units foiled attempts to infiltrate 50 Syrians across the Lebanese-Syrian border in Shaddra and Al Awaynat - North.
The seized items were handed over, and the investigation with the arrestees was initiated under the supervision of the competent judiciary.
