LAF Commander visits the State of Qatar and meets with the Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defense Affairs, and the Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces

On October 8, 2025, LAF Commander General Rodolph Haykal began a two-day visit to the State of Qatar at the official invitation of the Chief of Staff of the Qatari Armed Forces, Lieutenant General (Pilot) Jassim bin Mohammed Al Mannai. The visit aims to strengthen cooperation between the Lebanese and Qatari armies in light of current challenges.

 

General Haykal met with His Excellency Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al Thani, Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs. His Excellency reaffirmed Qatar’s continued support for the institutions of the Lebanese state, the Lebanese Army, and the Lebanese people, while General Haykal expressed his gratitude for Qatar’s unconditional support at all levels.

The LAF Commander also met with His Excellency Sheikh Saud bin Abdulrahman bin Hassan Al Thani, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of State for Defense Affairs. The discussion addressed the latest developments in Lebanon and the region, the operations carried out by the LAF to maintain Lebanon’s security and stability across various regions, its missions in the South, cooperation with the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), and efforts to implement the cessation of hostilities agreement.

General Haykal began his visit with a meeting with the Chief of Staff of the Qatari Armed Forces, Lieutenant General (Pilot) Jassim bin Mohammed Al-Mannai, at the Qatari Ministry of Defense, where an official reception and honors ceremony were held. The discussions focused on enhancing cooperation between the two armies on various levels and ways to support the military institution amid the delicate circumstances Lebanon is experiencing.
