Execution of the closing drill for the joint exercise RESOLUTE UNION 2026 in the presence of the Acting Army Commander
On 30/10/2025, the closing drill of the joint exercise Resolute Union 2026 was held in Hannoush – Hamat, in the presence of the Acting Army Commander, Major General Hassan Audi, the U.S. Embassy Chargé d’Affaires in Lebanon, Mr. Keith Hanigan, a number of military attachés and army officers, as well as representatives of security agencies and international organizations.
The drill was preceded by a first phase, held from 20 to 29/10/2025, which included sub-exercises, coordination meetings, and the exchange of expertise among the participating forces.
The exercise was carried out by the Navy and the Joint Maritime Force of the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL), with the participation of several army units — including the Air Force, Military Healthcare, Military Police, the Engineering and Naval Commando Regiments — along with elements from the U.S. Army and members of the Internal Security Forces.
The drill consisted of a joint land, sea, and air operations, featuring the interception of a ship hijacked by terrorists, the evacuation of the wounded by helicopters and their treatment by the Lebanese Red Cross, as well as the detection of a terrorist cell in Hannoush, followed by an engagement and its elimination, in addition to naval firing exercises and search and rescue operations.
The exercise aimed to enhance the army’s operational capabilities, particularly in the naval domain, to ensure the protection of Lebanese territorial waters, to improve coordination between the army and other security institutions, and to strengthen cooperation with friendly armed forces.
