Order of the Day on the occasion of the Eighty-Second Independence Day
Fellow troops,
This year, we mark the anniversary of our Independence Day, embodying the struggle that the Lebanese have waged for eighty-two years, united in the face of great challenges, until they claimed their rightful homeland that embraces them under its flag as brothers and sisters in identity and belonging.
Many years have been filled with pivotal moments and challenges that tested the resilience of the Lebanese people and left lasting imprints on their country. Today, our nation confronts a decisive and exceptionally difficult phase in its history, amidst the Israeli occupation of Lebanese territories, persistent attacks and violations that claim the lives of martyrs, injure the innocent, obstruct the full deployment of our army, and inflict destruction upon property and vital infrastructure.
Fellow troops,
Since the implementation of the ceasefire agreement, the army has exerted tremendous efforts, overcoming limited resources and challenges posed by the ongoing crisis, to execute its plan and consolidate its presence in the South Litani Sector. In doing so, it has sought to assert the authority of the state across all Lebanese territories, in accordance with the decisions of the Lebanese government, in full adherence to Resolution 1701 and all its provisions, and in close coordination with the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) and the Committee overseeing the ceasefire agreement.
In this context, the military institution has made tremendous sacrifices, with many of its members falling as martyrs or wounded on the altar of the homeland. It has stood firm in its positions despite perilous circumstances, safeguarding Lebanon’s sovereign right over every inch of its land. The army will neither falter nor withhold any effort—or any drop of blood—in pursuit of this sacred duty, while also supporting the return of displaced citizens to their villages.
Such efforts require diligent support from all state institutions, within the framework of a comprehensive national endeavor, ensuring the provision of necessary resources, improving the conditions of our military personnel, and creating the essential foundations for the restoration of stability.
The Command is fully aware of the exceptional circumstances surrounding the execution of the army’s plan, which is progressing according to its designated schedule. These conditions demand the highest wisdom and prudence, combined with unwavering firmness and professionalism, in a manner that serves the national interest and upholds civil peace, entirely free from any other considerations.
Simultaneously, the army continues its relentless fight against terrorism, pursues those who threaten security, and combats drug trafficking across all regions. It protects Lebanon’s northern and eastern borders as well as its territorial waters, works to prevent smuggling in close coordination with the relevant Syrian authorities, and strives to enhance its capabilities through ongoing engagement with friend nations, with whom we aim to deepen cooperation through their initiatives in support of our institution.
Fellow Troops,
Embrace the national values and remain ever vigilant in safeguarding the security and stability of our homeland. Know that the army, as a mighty and enduring fortress, draws its strength from each of its members, standing unwavering and resolute through their steadfast dedication. You are the very heartbeat of the nation, and your devotion to duty stands as one of the most enduring pillars upholding Lebanon’s continuity, resilience, and honor.
You are the ones who sacrifice for your families across every stretch of our country, confronting danger to defend every precious grain of our soil—striving for its full liberation—so that the spirit of our independence may shine eternal.
Persevere in the fulfillment of your duty, undaunted by campaigns of doubt, slander, or rumor, and know that you always stand on the side of righteousness.
To the Lebanese people, I say: remain, as we have always known you, steadfast beside your army, for it is your shield in times of trial. Your trust in the army is the bedrock of its endurance, and the unity of the nation is the very cornerstone of Lebanon’s revival.
On this Independence Day, we renew our faith in Lebanon, honoring with reverence and deep respect our noble martyrs, and affirm that no challenge can weaken our resolve. Our homeland will triumph over every trial through the unity of its people and the unwavering strength of its army.
Yarzeh, 21/11/2025
Army Commander-in-Chief, General Rodolph Haykal
