Unveiling the memorial of martyr soldiers in Wadi el Dobb – Ersal with the presence of the Armed Forces Commander

The unveiling ceremony of the memorial of martyr soldiers who were kidnapped by the terrorist “ISIS” organization was held in their place of martyrdom in Wadi el Dobb – Ersal with the presence of the ‎Armed Forces Commander General Joseph Aoun and the parents of the martyrs as well as several officers. After the ceremony, General Aoun toured the caves of Wadi el Khayl that were used by terrorists from el Nusra as a field command post and to detain kidnapped soldiers.

The Armed Forces Commander addressed the martyrs saying: One year ago, I have launched the “Dawn of the Outskirts” in your name while your noble blood blessed the land. Your comrades have confronted the terrorist “ISIS” organization with ultimate pride and determination. Every bullet and missile launched at terrorist locations carried a clear message for them to surrender and reveal your fate. As I promised your parents, the blood of every soldier is my responsibility and I will commit to my vow. Every person who allows themselves to target the LAF will be destined to die or get arrested. You have remained in this land and your blood was united with the soil that bloomed into a new dawn rising on our outskirts, putting an end to nightmare that was torturing our nation. Wars are fought with weapons, but victories are achieved by men. I salute your parents who have been patient throughout all these years with their constant belief and faith in the military institution to reveal the fate of their children. We vow to you and to all the parents of martyrs that the LAF always were and always will remain by your sides.

Moreover, General Aoun stated that the “Dawn of Outskirts” battle was a bright stage in our military history as well as Lebanon’s History. This critical stage has increased our determination and will to carry on with our defense mission at the borders as well as our security mission at the borders. Our people and the international community trust us and the main concern of the military institution is to preserve peace and security. General Aoun also confirmed that propagandas, allegations or criticisms, regardless of the side, will not prevent us from executing our missions and commit to our message.
