The Armed Forces Commander General Joseph Aoun met with the Mufti of Tripoli and the North Cheikh Malek el Chaar and expressed his appreciation to his supporting stances towards the LAF and stated that he and the other elders are the guarantee for the nation’s security because they hold a major responsibility towards it and towards its people. Chaar considered that the LAF is the pillar and the conscience of Lebanon and stated that the security situation is delicate and terrorism is refused. Chaar commended the swift and professional intervention of the LAF in confronting the terrorist.

Chaar stressed that the sense of belonging should only be towards the nation, as for religion, it is a special relation between human beings and their God.

Afterwards, General Aoun toured the units deployed in Tripoli, that witnessed a terrorist attack that resulted in the martyrdom of 2 LAF soldiers and 2 ISF troops. General Aoun met with the officers and soldiers at the headquarters of the 12th Infantry Brigade, the Intelligence branch in the region and the headquarters of the 1st Intervention Regiment and commended their efforts that have led to thwarting the situation with the least possible damage, without affecting citizens despite the martyrdom of 4 soldiers. General Aoun commended the swift intervention that resulted in cordoning off the terrorist that was hidden in an apartment, leading him to detonating himself. General Aoun also stated that “the price was high, but it was our honor. We are proud of our martyrs and we will never forget them.”

General Aoun considered that terrorism has no religion and used the lone wolf policy to execute this operation, attempting to cause tumult in Tripoli.
