2 suspects arrested in Akroum, vehicles and different material confiscated

The Army Command – Directorate of Orientation issued the following statement

As part of the actions taken to control the eastern and northern border and in an effort to thwart cross-border smuggling operations, a Lebanese Army unit deployed in the north arrested a suspect for his involvement in smuggling natural gas from Lebanese territories toward Syrian territories on board a natural gas 2000 liter vehicle.

The LAF unit also arrested another suspect and confiscated a tractor carrying 2.5 tons of smuggled sugar from Syrian territories toward Lebanese territories.

The suspects and the confiscated vehicles and substances were turned in to the competent judiciary authorities.
