The Armed Forces Commander General Joseph Aoun visited the military units stationed in the city of Sidon and the surrounding of Aïn el-Helwe camp where he toured the army posts and inspected the measures taken with the aim of preserving peace in the city and its surrounding.

General Aoun called on the commanders of the units to intensify the security measures, particularly in the surrounding of the camp and its passageways to protect the citizens and deter the infiltration of outlaws. He confirmed that the Army will retaliate firmly against any attacks targeting military posts and urban areas around the camp and against any attempts to drag the clashes outside of the camp. He noted that the continuation of absurd fighting concocted every now and then by terrorist and extremist gunmen is totally unacceptable since it endangers the safety of the Palestinians and the inhabitants of the neighboring areas to imminent and direct danger  and is negatively reflected over the livelihood of the citizens of Sidon. He added that the security of the Palestinian camps and any other region in the Lebanese territories is part of the inclusive national security and therefore it is in the interest of all the sides to contribute in preserving stability by denying the terrorists and outlaws any safe haven and by cooperating with the Army and security agencies in order to arrest them.
