The Armed Forces Commander General Joseph Aoun visited this morning Fouad Chehab Academy for Command and Staff where he met with the officers attending the 33rd General Staff course, with the presence of the Academy Commander and Staff. General Aoun welcomed visiting officers, Arab and foreign, who have attended the course with their Lebanese comrades.

Moreover, General Aoun stressed the fact that the Academy is one of the most important institutes that graduate military commanders. General Aoun also stressed the importance of the role performed by staff officers in their units, for they contribute to swiftly take the right decision.

General Aoun confirmed that the LAF is dealing today with an unconventional terrorist enemy that is lurking among people where there are far too many unclear complications. In this situation, the role of a staff officer is important in studying these circumstances and preparing the convenient agents that enable the unit commander to delicately assess the situation.

Furthermore, General Aoun considered that the swift response of units for the recent terrorist attack in Tripoli and their rushing to put an end to this abnormal situation confirms the importance of principles that we learn in the academy of command and staff. General Aoun also stated that terrorism takes advantage of opportunities through some dormant cells in order to spread its hatred in the society. However, the development and preparedness of the Intelligence Directorate thwarted these attempts and those that got away with it were taken down by security forces. In addition, the Commander of the academy welcomed the LAF Commander saying: “it is from you that we take our strength and we learn from your journey the philosophy of belonging to the nation solely, for it is greater than all belongings. Fouad Chehab for command and staff works according to your directives and with the standards you have enrooted, the standards of competence, transparency and objectivity in addition to hard work, perseverance and constant education.”
