The Army Center of Research and Strategic Studies organized a workshop under the title: Statistical work in the Arab Region between reality and expectations. Brigadier General P.S.C Charbel Abou Khalil attended the workshop and represented Minister of National Defense Yaacoub Riyad el-Sarraf and Armed Forces Commander General Joseph Aoun. Judge Roland Chartouni represented Minister of Justice Salim Jreisati in the event attended by representatives of security agencies in addition to official, academic, social figures from Lebanon and the Arab world as well as senior Army officers.

The workshop initiated with the national anthem and Brigadier General P.S.C Fadi Abi Farraj Commander of the Army Center of Research and Strategic Studies delivered a speech where he noted that the Arab environment in general is in dire need to introduce drastic and constructive changes that may further encourage the development of scientific research with the aim of pushing forward a real renaissance in the field of statistical work to better serve the needs of scientific and development societies in the Arab world.

Other participants also gave their speeches that tackled the current situation of statistical work in Lebanon and in the Arab region and the means to develop this work by resorting scientific approaches paving the way toward building durable policies in this regard.

Discussions ensued afterward and addressed the importance of statistical work in society and economy as well as the reality of the statistical work in the Arab region in light of large databases.
