Army Chief of Staff visited units deployed in the Bekaa

Army Chief of Staff Major General P.S.C Hatem Mallak visited this morning the Headquarters of the 9th Infantry Brigade in el-Labwee and the 2nd Border Control Regiment in Ras Baalbek as well as the Headquarters of the Bekaa region in Ablah and the Intelligence branch in addition to all the units deployed in the region. Major General Mallak inspected the security missions as well as the training, logistic and administrative activities. He then visited the family of martyr Sergeant Kasem Wehbe in the town of Ersal following his martyrdom the day before yesterday during the clash between an army force and armed militants in Marjahin el-Hermel. Major General Mallak conveyed to the family members the condolences of the LAF Command. He commended the courage of the martyr and his devotion in performing his military duty. The Chief of Staff confirmed during his meeting with officers and troops that the army that has exerted the most precious of sacrifices to ward off terrorism away from the eastern border of the Bekaa region will not show leniency in dealing with any party or organized crime gangs ‎that attempt to disturb peace and stability. He noted that any aggression targeting the army is considered as an effort to instigate strife and chaos and therefore it will be considered as an attack targeting the country and the whole Lebanese community. The Military Institution will not tolerate such incidents under no circumstance. He stressed that the blood of the troops that was spilled while defending the security of the citizens and their civil peace is entrusted to the army that will track down the aggressors relentlessly in order to arrest them and bring them before justice.

He concluded his remarks by calling for additional vigilance and preparedness and by bolstering the field measures aimed at thwarting infiltration attempts and smuggling operations and asked the troops to be constantly on the lookout to ward off outlaws.
