Army Comes Under Fire While Arresting 5 Citizens for Shooting During Funeral Procession in Beirut's Southern Suburbs

The Army Command – Directorate of Orientation issued the following statement:

An army unit raided the residences of wanted individuals in the areas of Laylaki, Jamous, and Old Airport Road – Beirut’s southern suburbs (Dahye Janoubiye), and arrested five citizens for shooting during a funeral procession on 14/7/2026. A quantity of weapons and military ammunition was seized from their possession. During the raid, the unit’s personnel were fired upon and they returned fire, resulting in the injury of one of the wanted individuals, who was transferred to a hospital for treatment.

The seized items were handed over to the competent authorities, and an investigation was initiated with the detainees under the supervision of the competent judicial authority.
