Army Commander-in-Chief  General Rodolph Haykal held a meeting at Yarzeh, attended by members of the Army Command Staff, commanders of operational units and regiments, and a number of officers. The meeting focused on reviewing the latest developments in Lebanon and the region, assessing the security and military situation, and addressing the challenges associated with the current phase, amid continued Israeli violations and attacks targeting southern areas, resulting in further casualties and destruction, in breach of international law and existing understandings.

During the meeting, General Haykal expressed his appreciation to the various Army units and personnel for their sustained efforts and significant achievements, particularly in maintaining domestic security, monitoring the borders, and thwarting smuggling operations.

He further noted that, throughout this phase, the Army had relied on its own resources while continuously developing its capabilities, significantly strengthening its capacity across various domains. These efforts had yielded major achievements and successful initiatives, reflecting the professionalism of its military units and the advancement of their operational and logistical capabilities. Among these initiatives was the Army’s contribution to the rehabilitation of President René Moawad Airport in Qlayaat.

Addressing them, he stated: “The Army’s mission is national, and its sole guiding policy is that of the nation. Our foremost priority is to preserve internal unity, stability, and civil peace, while safeguarding national sovereignty. We are working to ensure the successful implementation of the decisions of the political authorities and to extend state authority over the entirety of Lebanese territory. The withdrawal of Israeli occupation forces from occupied Lebanese territories must be achieved, as their continued presence constitutes the fundamental problem and the foremost threat facing our nation.”

He further stated: “Certain individuals, both at home and abroad, have taken to criticizing the Army’s work and judging its performance without any real understanding of the military institution or its operations, while seeking to tarnish its image. Such an approach is incompatible with national loyalty. The Army is accomplishing major achievements that go beyond its available resources and capabilities—achievements that many armies around the world would struggle to attain. This is made possible by the resilience and dedication of its personnel, their unwavering faith in their institution and the trust placed in it by the Lebanese people.”

He stressed: “The Army will stand as an impenetrable barrier against any internal unrest and will not allow Lebanon’s security or stability to be compromised.”

He also affirmed that the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) represents a living record of the history of the conflict between Lebanon and the Israeli occupation. He described the Force as a monitor of the implementation of international resolutions, documenting violations and attacks, and bearing witness to the occupation’s actions, underscoring the necessity of its continued presence and its ability to carry out its mandate.

He concluded by emphasizing the need for vigilance and a strong sense of responsibility, as well as maintaining full readiness and preparedness for all possible scenarios, without counting on any international or regional developments. He further highlighted that the Army Command is sparing no effort to support military personnel and improve their living conditions.
