An awareness statement for citizens on the occasion of launching the national campaign to raise awareness on the dangers of mines, cluster bombs and unexploded ordnance
The Army Command – Directorate of Orientation issued the following statement:
As some citizens continue to suffer injuries caused by the explosion of mines, cluster bombs and suspicious objects, the Army Command - Orientation Directorate reminds citizens that the aforementioned munitions are of various shapes and sizes and may be camouflaged in different ways and are scattered randomly in the lands that witnessed hostilities.
In the interest of public safety, the Army Command calls on citizens to adhere to the following guidelines and directives:
- Do not approach suspicious places.
- Adhere to the warning signs and do not remove them or try to enter fenced spots.
- Do not touch or tamper with mines, cluster bombs, suspicious objects and unexploded ordnance.
- Do not take unsafe roads, and always stick to paved roads.
- Always adhere to the rules of precaution and safety.
It also calls upon them, when they encounter a mine or any foreign object, to inform the nearest military center or contact the Army’s Operations Staff (G3) - the Lebanese Mine Action Center on the phone number 05/956143 or at 1701, the distributor of the Ministry of National Defense.
