A boat with 91 people on board rescued from sinking

The Army Command – Directorate of Orientation issued the following statement:
On 19/11/2021 based on information obtained by the Intelligence Directorate about the possibility of human – trafficking across the sea, a naval patrol pursued a boat belonging to citizen (M.B.) in the waters opposite Qalamoun, carrying 91 people (Lebanese, Syrians and Palestinians), including children and women, while trying to smuggle them illegally. The aforementioned patrol seized the boat, which almost sank due to bad weather, and rescued all those on board. They were taken ashore and given the necessary first aid.
The investigation began under the supervision of the competent judicial authorities.
