A cooperation agreement was signed between the LAF and Sagesse University this morning at the LAF Headquarters – Yarzeh. The agreement includes organizing educational and scientific courses as well as special facilitations for soldiers and families. The signing ceremony was attended by the Armed Forces Commander General Joseph Aoun and Archbishop Boulos Matar of Beirut as well as the headmaster of the university Father Khalil Chalfoun who was heading a delegation from the administration of the university.
Archbishop Matar stressed the importance of this cooperation between the university and the LAF and commended the accomplishments of the LAF in preserving security and peace in Lebanon, stating: “Lebanon’s value is in its sovereignty and you are the guardians of this sovereignty.”
Father Chalfoun stated that this agreement is deeper than a contract to be signed between 2 parties. It is an embodiment of a vital relation in the frame of a national message concerning both institutions. He added:”the offers provided by the university are not social aid to be offered to a student who is in need of our help. It is a national contribution to a soldier that we need to support in light of the sacrifices he offers for the nation and for society.”
General Aoun expressed his appreciation to the administration of Sagesse University for this initiative and stressed the importance of education for soldiers and officers in a way to have a positive impact on their productivity and that of the military institution.” General Aoun also said:” knowledge is power. We aim to expand the horizons of our officers and developing their analytic abilities in order to take the suitable decisions.”
In the end, commemorative shields were exchanged.
