Freeing hostages in Ersal and arresting one of the kidnappers

The Army Command – Directorate of Orientation issued the following statement:
The Intelligence Directorate gathered information related to an armed gang who kidnapped a number of individuals in return for ransom in the town of Britel, a special army unit raided two different locations in the town and managed to free 23 individuals, Syrian women and children included, after being kidnapped for 15 days all in good health.
Army troops came under fire during the raid and one of the kidnappers, a Syrian national known by “el-Shakour” was injured while another Lebanese kidnapper was arrested.
The Syrian suspect was transferred to hospital and passed away soon after. Investigation is in progress with the Lebanese kidnapper under the supervision of the relevant judiciary authorities.
