Funeral of martyr Corporal Abbas Jaafar and martyr Sergeant First Class Walid Freij

The Army Command and the citizens of Tyre and the village of Saadneyil organized the funerals of martyr Corporal Abbas Jaafar and martyr Sergeant First Class Walid Freij who martyred due to the military operations launched by the Army at the jurds of Ras Baalbek and el-Qaa.

The funerals commenced with the honoring ceremonies at the gates of the Central Military Hospital – Badaro where a unit of the Military Police and the Army Band performed the ceremonial rituals and the bodies of the martyrs were decorated with the medals of war, the medal of the wounded, and the medal of Military Appreciation – Bronze degree.

The city of Tyre hosted the funeral of martyr Corporal Abbas Jaafar in the presence of Brigadier General P.S.C Ali Makki who represented the Minister of National Defense Yaacoub Riyad el-Sarraf and Armed Forces Commander General Joseph Aoun. Brigadier General P.S.C Makki delivered a speech on the occasion where he commended the heroism of the martyr and his devotion in performing his military duties. He added in his speech “our comrade in arms martyr corporal Abbas with his zealousness, enthusiasm and courage always assumed while confronting with his comrades the evil enemy embodied by terrorism at the border of his country that he might encounter martyrdom at any second for martyrdom is the destiny of loyal heroes who keep their promise whenever they take an oath and answer the call of duty even before the trumpet calls us to the fields of glory and heroism”.

The village of Saadneyil hosted the funeral of martyr Sergeant First Class Walid Freij in the presence of Brigadier General Atieh Hanna who represented the Minister of National Defense Yaacoub Riyad el-Sarraf and Armed Forces Commander General Joseph Aoun. In his speech, Brigadier General Atieh commended the martyr’s bravery and devotion to his message. He added in speech that “today the Army gives away one of his elite heroes martyr Sergeant First Class Walid Freij who rose high as a Giant In the battlefield  and set before his eyes the mission of eradicating the thorns from the paths followed by his comrades since he was a soldier of the Army engineering regiment even if this mission could cost him his martyrdom at the altar of the country and he never left us before accomplishing his mission, raising his head high.
