Funeral of Retired Major General Fadi Abu Shaqra
On 2 September 2026, the Army Command and residents of Amatour - Chouf held the funeral of retired Major General Fadi Abu Shaqra, who passed away on 1 September 2026.
The funeral procession began in front of the Central Military Hospital, where a detachment of the Military Police and the Army Band rendered the appropriate honors and military ceremonial rites.
The coffin was then transferred to the town hall of Amatour - Chouf, where the funeral ceremony was held in the presence of the representative of the Minister of National Defense, Major General Michel Menassa, and the Lebanese Army Commander-in-Chief, General Rodolph Haykal.
He delivered a speech in which he said: “Amatour played an essential role in shaping the character of Major General Abu Chakra. It was from there that he set out, and it was in its national and cultural environment that the values that accompanied him throughout his life took root. Within his family, he grew up with a deep love for his country. Today, our departed comrade returns to his hometown, having left behind a distinguished record and a career worthy of recognition, ensuring that his memory will remain alive in the hearts and minds of its people and members of the military institution.”
