LAF Commander General Rodolph Haykal inspected several military units deployed in the South Litani Sector, where he reviewed the progress of operations and the effective implementation of the first phase of the LAF’s plan, including the reinforcement of its deployment in the sector. He also highlighted the importance of cooperation and coordination with the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL).
General Haykal met with the leadership of the South Litani Sector at Benoit Barakat Barrack in Tyre, where he received a briefing on the operational situation in light of the ongoing Israeli aggressions, continued violations of Lebanese sovereignty, the occupation of parts of Lebanese territory, and repeated breaches of international resolutions. He also met with officers and soldiers, commending their dedication and emphasizing that the Army’s significant achievements are the direct result of their efforts. General Haykal affirmed that the unity of the Lebanese people—across all communities—around the military institution stands as a clear testament to its success in fulfilling its national role, despite the false accusations directed against it.
He addressed the troops, stating: “I deeply appreciate your dedication and loyalty to both the Army and the nation. You have demonstrated your ability to shoulder the immense responsibility entrusted to you and have earned the confidence of our friend countries. We must continue to exert every effort and make necessary sacrifices to fulfill our duty. The upcoming phase will once again prove that the LAF embodies the power of justice and is the steadfast protector of our national interests.”
Afterwards, General Haykal visited the UNIFIL Headquarters in Naqoura, where he met with its Commander, Major General Diodato Abagnara and received a detailed briefing on UNIFIL’s ongoing missions and its cooperation with LAF units deployed in the sector.
He conveyed his deep appreciation to the UNIFIL leadership and all its personnel for their dedication and sacrifices in supporting peace. He emphasized the vital importance of enhancing cooperation and coordination between the LAF and UNIFIL within the framework of their strategic partnership.
Subsequently, General Haykal inspected the commands of the 5th Infantry Brigade in Bayada – Tyre, the 7th Infantry Brigade at François El Hajj Barrack – Marjaayoun, and the 5th Intervention Regiment in Kfardounine – Bint Jbeil. He reviewed the missions and challenges facing these units in their respective sectors and assured the officers and soldiers that the Army stands as a symbol of patriotism, honor, sacrifice, and loyalty. He stressed that the sacrifices of the martyrs and wounded will never be in vain but will instead strengthen the determination and conviction of their comrades in fulfilling their mission.
He added: “The military institution is the cornerstone of security, stability, and resilience for the Lebanese people. Despite the significant challenges, we will not retreat—thanks to your professionalism and your vigilance in fully carrying out your duties.”
General Haykal also reviewed operational measures being implemented in Hamoul, north of Naqoura, aimed at reinforcing the LAF’s deployment.
