General Joseph Aoun visited the UNIFIL headquarters in Naqoura and toured the headquarters of the 5th infantry brigade and its deployed units

The Armed Forces Commander General Joseph Aoun visited the UNIFIL headquarters in Naqoura this morning where General Michael Beary and several officers were at his reception. Discussions focused on the situation at the southern border and ways to boost the cooperation and coordination between the army and the UNIFIL in order to preserve stability in the border regions and the implementation of resolution 1701 with all its stipulations.

Afterwards, the Armed Forces Commander inspected the headquarters of the 5th infantry brigade and its deployed units in Naqoura and its surroundings where he toured its posts and was informed of its defense measures in the face of the Israeli enemy, then met with the officers and soldiers and provided them with the necessary directives.

General Aoun commended their efforts and sacrifices in order to defend the southern border and called upon them to be further prepared to confront any possible Israeli assault and confirmed that the constant enemy threats against Lebanon will not terrorize the army and will not prevent it from performing its sacred duty in defending its land and people with all available means and possibilities and regardless of the sacrifices. General Aoun also stated that the victory accomplished by the army in the Dawn of the Jurds operation against terrorism at the eastern border and finally chasing it away from the region has had a positive impact on the stability of security inside Lebanon and has reinforced the army's capability to fully protect Lebanon's borders and face dangers and challenges that might come from any side.
