The happenings of the combats in the Jurds of Qaa and Ras Baalbek - 4th day

The Army Headquarters - Directorate of Orientation issued the following statement:  

Lebanese Army combat units resumed starting this dawn, reinforced by an air cover and heavy artillery shelling the third stage of the “Dawn of the Jurds” operation against the remains of “ISIS” terroristorganization in the jurd of el-Qaa through two main axes. The Army units managed at the end of this day to accomplish the objective of tightening its grip over the northern spot of the combat front stretching to the Lebanese – Syrian border. The recaptured area included the following regions: Tallit Khalaf (1546), Ras el-Kaf (1643), Ras Dalil el-Damana (1464), Qrani Shaabat el-Oueishel (1500), el-Madqar (1612), Mrah Darb el-Arab (1400), Qrani Khirbit Hawrta (1621), Mrah el-Douwar (1455), el-Dikkeneh (1494). Accordingly, the area liberated today is estimated to be around 20 km2 and thus the liberated areas since the beginning of the operation is around 100 km2 out of 120 km2. During these operations, one army soldier martyred and 4 others were injured as a result of the explosion of an IED while 9 terrorist posts were destroyed and included caves, a tunnel and connected trenches as well as fortifications, weapons, ammunition and different military gear.

Furthermore, technician teams part of the Army Engineering Regiment resumed the inspection of the liberated area in order to clear it from mines, IEDs and suspicious objects in addition to their mission of opening new roads, while combat units prepare to launch the coming stage as part of the set plan of action.
