Inauguration ceremony of a solar energy system project for an artesian well in Masa – Zahle

An inauguration ceremony of a solar energy system project for an artesian well was held in Masa – Zahle. The project was implemented by the Civil – Military Cooperation Directorate (CIMIC) within the framework of a cooperation project with the Kingdom of the Netherlands, by contributions from the municipalities of Massa and Hay Al Fikani.

The ceremony was attended by the Directorate Interim Director, representing the Lebanese Army Commander in Chief General Joseph Aoun, the Netherlands Ambassador to Lebanon Hans Peter Van Der Woude, representatives of the municipal authorities, public figures, spiritual and social figures, and a number of officers.

The Interim Director Brigadier General P.S.C. Iyad Al Alam delivered a speech in which he said: “This vital achievement, which will benefit the towns of Massa, Hay Al Fikani, and Reayt, embodies the most effective cooperation between the Lebanese Armed Forces, the Netherlands and local communities represented by the municipalities”. General Al Alam thanked the Kingdom of the Netherlands and all those who helped complete the project, stressing that the military institution will remain the backbone of the nation and its people in the face of difficulties.

On the other hand, Ambassador Van der Woude noted that the project will provide water to dozens of residences and improve their living conditions, stressing that the Kingdom of the Netherlands will continue to support development projects in various Lebanese regions in cooperation with the army.

Mr. Adam styp-Rekowski, representative of the Geneva Centre for Security Sector Governance, which runs the project, also noted its importance in providing some basic services to the population.

Masa Mayor Ahmed al-Musawi and Fikani mayor Hassan Dalloul also thanked the army for implementing the project in cooperation with the Kingdom of the Netherlands.
