Individuals attempted to attack a patrol for the Intelligence Directorate while arresting a wanted individual in Afqa – Byblos

The Army Headquarters – Directorate of Orientation issued the following statement:

On 13/08/2017 at 11.45 in Afqa – Byblos, while an intelligence directorate patrol was attempting to arrest Zakaria Hussein Zaayter, wanted for imposing monetary sums on tourists visiting Afqa Grotto, some individuals attacked the troops, leading them open fire in the air in order to scatter them and arrest Zaayter. Work is ongoing to arrest other individuals.
