LAF Commander visited military units and search and rescue teams at the Port

LAF Commander General Joseph Aoun visited this morning the blast site at the port of Beirut and checked on local and international search and rescue teams. General Aoun was briefed about the operations conducted by the rescue teams of the Netherlands, Russia, France, Germany, Greece, Cyprus, Qatar, Turkey and the Czech Republic.
General Aoun expressed his gratitude to the countries that answered the call and dispatched teams to participate in the search and rescue operations. He expressed his appreciation to the efforts exerted by these teams and their contribution in terms of retrieving the bodies and searching for the missing persons and expressed his hope of finding them alive.
Following this tour, General Aoun visited teams of the Civil Defense, the Red Cross, the Fire Brigade as well as the military units deployed in the port area.
General Aoun praised the efforts of these units which are cooperating with the foreign teams and isolating the area to prevent theft and aggressions against properties and containers. He expressed his condolences to the relatives of the victims and wished a speedy recovery to those injured.
General Aoun stressed the role of the military personnel during this critical situation despite the magnitude of the task which is considered one of the most difficult missions entrusted to the military.  “Be confident that the LAF is capable of answering all the calls of duty and will spare no effort in working for the sake of the country and the citizens for the LAF was and will remain rising to the hopes of the Lebanese” General Aoun added.
