The Lebanese Army Commander in Chief, General Joseph Aoun, held a periodical meeting at the Army Command Building - Yarzeh with the Association of Arab and Foreign Military attachés.He presented the defense and security tasks carried out by the military institution, and the difficulties faced in light of the current economic crisis.

General Aoun stressed that the meeting reflects the interest of countries friends of Lebanon in supporting the army and counting it as the backbone of the nation, pointing out that facing the existing crisis is more difficult than the military war, especially that since recent years the army has witnessed exceptional events and circumstances, most notably the popular protests, the catastrophic Beirut port explosion in August 2020, and the doubling of the Syrian refugees, and the complexities of the political and social situation.

He said, "Because of the compelling economic conditions, the army command focuses, in addition to the basic tasks, on two domains: first, providing foodstuffs, medical supplies, and fuel to maintain operational capabilities, and second, supporting the military and helping them overcome living challenges. Our role is to protect the homeland, maintain security stability, and prevent any war." We are doing our best to fight the scourge of drugs and the threat of terrorism. The unity of the army is essential to guarantee the security of Lebanon and the region."

He added, "We strongly believe that the army will continue thanks to the determination and persistence of its soldiers, and thanks to the support of the Lebanese people for it and the support of countries friends of Lebanon by its side, and the army will remain united so that the country remains stable."

He concluded by thanking the military attachés for their efforts and the efforts of their countries to support Lebanon and the military institution, stressing that it will remain united despite all the rumors and accusation campaigns.

On the other hand, the Romanian military attaché in Lebanon, Colonel Stefan IOVANESCU, delivered a speech on behalf of the Association of Military Attachés, in which he affirmed the continuation of the countries friends of Lebanon represented by the attachés in supporting the army in various ways to enable it to continue carrying out its missions, praising the will, professionalism and sacrifices of the military to protect Lebanon despite the great difficulties they face.
