The Lebanese Army Commander in Chief visits Fouad Chehab Academy for Commander and Staff

The lebanese Army Commander in Chief General Joseph Aoun visited this morning Fouad Chehab Academy for Command and Staff where he met with the students of Staff Course 36 who will be graduating soon. Among them were officers from various security forces, 3 Saudi officers and one Sudanese.
After a welcoming speech by the Academy Commander Brigadier General P.S.C Hasan Jouni, General Aoun congratulated the graduating officers who followed almost a year of study at the Academy, despite the difficult circumstances the country is going through and the challenges facing the military institution, but they proved their worth and commitment, achieving honorable results.
General Aoun stressed that what distinguishes the staff course this year is that the graduates will receive a master's degree in military sciences awarded by the Lebanese University, pursuant to a cooperation protocol that will be signed soon with the Army HQ. He praised the efforts exerted by the Academy's Command, officers, military and civilian trainers.
The Army Commander pointed out that the task of the staff officers is to prepare decisions for their commanders, in preparation for them to assume leadership positions that qualify them to take appropriate decisions according to the circumstances and data, and pointed out that the exceptional situation in Lebanon requires full awareness and caution in terms of decision-making and implementation of missions, he mentioned: “The knowledge that you acquired in the Academy will contribute to the development of your thinking, and your approach to the undertakings and methods of dealing with them, especially those in which other factors, especially political ones, overlap, bearing in mind that we do not interfere in political affairs at all. Rather, the political reality must be understood and analyzed in preparation for decision-making, such as the maritime border demarcation file, which has a lot of analyzes and comments related to it”.
He added: “The army has explicitly declared its position that its technical mission has ended, and that it stands behind the political authority in any decision it takes. We are not concerned with any comments, analyzes or positions, whether political or media. The official position is issued by the army command exclusively, and any other opinion does not express the Army's position".
