Live Crisis Management Simulation in Jounieh

The Lebanese Armed Forces Commander General Joseph Aoun attended a live crisis management simulation in Jounieh, organized by La Sagesse University - Faculty of Political Science and International Relations. The exercise simulated an explosion of a gas tanker, resulting in damages and casualties, within the framework of disaster and crisis management, and rapid response through rescuing the injured, firefighting, and providing field first aid, with the use of aerial reconnaissance to assess the damage and identify critical areas, as well as collecting samples and analyzing evidence.

The exercise involved the Intervention Regiment, Military Police, and Air Force of the LAF, as well as the Lebanese Red Cross, Civil Defense, Union of Municipalities of Keserwan - Ftouh and Jounieh Municipality, in the presence of the Maronite Bishop of Beirut Paul Abd ElSater, the Director General of Civil Defense Brigadier General Raymond Khattar representing the Minister of Interior and Municipalities Bassam Mawlawi, MP Shawki Dakkash, former Minister Demianos Kattar, President of the Union of Municipalities of Keserwan - Ftouh and Jounieh Municipality Jwan Hbeich, Keserwan District Commissioner Strida Nabhan, President of the Lebanese Red Cross Dr. Antoine Zoghbi, President of La Sagesse University Professor George Nehmeh, and Dean of the Faculty of Political Science and International Relations Professor Antonios Abou Kasm, in addition to diplomatic figures and several military attachés.

Professor Abou Kasm emphasized that the exercise is based on cooperation for a safe community that respects the rights and safety of citizens, and aims to motivate the spirit of volunteerism among young people to engage in military, security, and humanitarian institutions, thanking the Army for its role in protecting the homeland.

On the other hand, the Mayor of Jounieh considered that the exercise significantly contributes to enhancing the prior coordination between the concerned agencies in case of any emergency.

The exercise concluded with a display by the Intervention Regiment and the Air Force.
