Meetings of the Army Commander in Chief in the United States of America

The Army  Commander in Chief General Joseph Aoun continued his meetings at the US State Department in the presence of the US Ambassador to Lebanon, Ms. Dorothy Shea, and the Chargé d'Affairs at the Lebanese Embassy in Washington, Mr. Wael Hashem, and met with the Assistant Secretary of State for Near Eastern Affairs Yael Lempert, and the Under Secretary of State for Arms Control and International Security Affair Bonnie Denise Jenkins.
Mrs. Lempert and Jenkins emphasized the importance of the army's role in Lebanon's stability, and stressed the need to support it because Lebanon's unity and stability still constitutes an international concern.
General Aoun had also met at the Lebanese Embassy in Washington, a number of  Congressmen, members of the National Security Council, officials in the State Department and the Department of Defense, and American congressmen of Lebanese origin, in the presence of Ambassador Shea.
The participants were informed from General Aoun of the current situation of the army and the challenges it faces, stressing the need to increase the allocated aid so that the army remains able to protect Lebanon's stability.
