Minister Zeaiter praised the importance of this conference which sheds light over a part of contemporary structural dangers and problems that the Middle East is facing and particularly the Arab World. He added that the immense security and defense burdens laid on the LAF’s shoulders did not and shall not deter the Army from performing its development duty and cultural and intellectual activities especially since the Lebanese soldier considers the country as his bigger home and the citizens as his parents and brethren. He noted that the unique Lebanese experience which is based on the principle of unity in diversity and diversity in unity serves as a beacon of hope and salvation to the peoples of this region, rather an impregnable barrage in the confrontation with extremism, terrorism, strife and chaos.
In his turn, General Kahwagi welcomed the guests and noted that the organization of the conference for the sixth consecutive time in Beirut by the Research and Strategic Studies Center in the Lebanese Army comes as an interpretation of the Army’s will to interact with the intellectual and scientific resources, whether national or foreign and to exchange expertise, ideas and themes with the aim of contributing to determine the actual reasons behind the current Arab crises and problems and the means to address these crises and limit their repercussions.
