On the conclusion of

“Dawn of the Jurds” operation and the Army’s victory over terrorism

addressed by General Joseph Aoun to the troops

Fellow troops

Today, after you have completed the “Dawn of the Jurds” operation where you have achieved a conclusive victory over terrorism by forcing it out of the jurds of Ras Baalbek and el-Qaa and raised the Lebanese flag that is fluttering over the hills of this region and its peaks, this cherished region returns under the wing of the patriotic sovereignty, baptized with the blood of your comrades in arms who martyred and were wounded and thanks to the sweat that you have oozed.

However, what is painful for us in this victory is the agonizing end to the destiny of your martyred kidnapped comrades who suffered immensely from the cruelty of a criminal and malicious terrorism that holds no respect whatsoever to any divine, humanitarian and moral laws. On your behalf, I would like to extend my deepest sentiments of solidarity and condolences to their family members and I say to those heroes “you have forever been in our conscience and you shall remain, we will never forget you”.

Fellow troops

This bright achievement in the Army’s journey that you have attained endowed with your combat competence and the sense of heroism and courage that guided your every step in the battlefield has brought to an end a painful stage of our patriotic life where terrorism had taken control over a precious part of our land. For all this, I present to you officers, NCOs and soldiers my sincere salutation for you have contributed to this victory and I also extend my salutation to the Lebanese people who supported you in all its entities and gave you its priceless support. My greatest salutation is extended to the army martyrs and the martyrs of the whole country who gave their souls and blood without second thoughts in the fields of honor and heroism so that the dawn of victory may rise.

Fellow troops

If the confidence in our country has become more distinct and the hope of a wider relief even clearer, many challenges and difficulties remain ahead and are mainly embodied by the Israeli enemy that keeps plotting and scheming against our country at the southern border and by terrorist cells that may emerge whenever the opportunity arises. Therefore, I urge you to lie in wait for these dangers ready to perform whatever your military duty may call you to do to defend the Lebanese border and every last bit of the country’s land.
