Order of the day on the occasion of the 81st Army Day
Fellow troops,
On the first of August, we proudly and gratefully commemorate the Army's eighty-one-year journey of dedication, sacrifice, and loyalty. We renew our pledge to the nation that you have safeguarded through your blood and sacrifices. We bow in reverence to the souls of our righteous martyrs, who made the ultimate sacrifice in defense of Lebanon. We also pay tribute to our heroic wounded, and to all those who came before us in the service of the nation, and our retirees who fulfilled their duty with honor, integrity, and devotion.
Fellow troops,
The challenges and threats facing our nation continue to grow, yet the Army remains steadfast in carrying out all its missions despite formidable obstacles, including limited resources, the magnitude of its responsibilities, and the complexity of the circumstances. Its duties encompass securing the northern and eastern borders, monitoring the maritime frontier and territorial waters, combating terrorism, organized crime, drug trafficking, and smuggling, while continuing its deployment in southern Lebanon in accordance with the existing understandings and in a manner consistent with national imperatives and sovereign principles. It also persists in its efforts to ensure the safe and secure return of our citizens to their villages and towns and stands ready to deploy throughout all occupied areas as Israeli occupation forces withdraw. Nevertheless, the occupying forces persist in carrying out attacks and repeated violations, obstructing the Army's efforts.
The scale of these responsibilities necessitates strengthening the capabilities of the military institution and equipping it to meet the challenges ahead. They also call for continued cooperation with brotherly and friend nations, particularly given that supporting the Lebanese Army is an investment in Lebanon's stability and the security of the region. As we await the fulfillment of pledged assistance that meets the demands of our missions and the weight of our responsibilities, our servicemen and women continue to redouble their efforts, overcoming these constraints and carrying out their duties with unwavering belief in their mission. At the same time, we remain committed to enhancing our self-capabilities through initiatives already underway, with the objective of achieving the highest possible degree of self-reliance.
Fellow troops,
I hold in the highest regard the efforts you continue to make and the burdens you shoulder in light of the current circumstances. I take great pride in you, for you exemplify the highest ideals of military discipline, selfless dedication, and unwavering loyalty to the nation. I assure you that the Army Command remains committed to safeguarding your rights and will spare no effort in standing by your side, making full use of the institution's available resources. It will also continue to press the relevant authorities to grant you and your families the rights that befit your sacrifices.
The Army's strength is rooted in your unity and in the trust and support of the Lebanese people. Our nation can only recover and prosper through a strong, capable, and cohesive Army, an Army whose enduring strength is drawn from your steadfast faith in your homeland. I therefore call upon you to remain resolute, to uphold the oath you have sworn, and never hesitate in making every sacrifice necessary in defense of Lebanon and its people.
Know that the trust the Lebanese people place in you is the fruit of your sacrifices and your exemplary professionalism. Each and every one of you represents the Lebanese people in all their diversity and embodies the image of one united Lebanon. Remain faithful to the oath you have sworn, and never falter in the fulfillment of your duty.
Fellow troops,
My confidence in you is absolute, and my conviction in your ability to continue fulfilling your mission remains unwavering. From your determination and resilience, I draw the strength to continue working alongside you for the advancement of our institution and the protection of our homeland. Persevere with determination and commitment, ever upholding the enduring values of Honor, Sacrifice, and Loyalty.
