ORDER OF THE DAY ON THE OCCASION OF THE RESISTANCE AND LIBERATION DAY
Fellow troops
On the occasion of Resistance and Liberation Day, we stand before a historic milestone marked by remarkable achievements—foremost among them, the liberation of the greater part of our land after decades under Israeli occupation. This is a profound national triumph, rich in symbolism, embodied in the reclamation of most of the South, made possible through the unwavering resilience and steadfastness of the Lebanese people. Today, we proudly honor the sacrifices of the martyrs whose courage made this victory a reality. Their memory remains ever-present, a source of strength and determination that continues to inspire us in the face of adversity and hardship.
This anniversary comes at a time marked by severe hardships and grave dangers, in the aftermath of a full-scale assault launched by the Israeli enemy against Lebanon—particularly the South—resulting in thousands of martyrs and wounded, and inflicting vast destruction on infrastructure, and public property. Though the devastating consequences of this aggression remain starkly visible, it has also powerfully revealed the unwavering national spirit of the Lebanese people and their deep sense of unity, as they stood together in solidarity and embraced one another throughout the ordeal.
Fellow Troops,
It has become clear and undeniable that your steadfastness is one of the most vital reasons for Lebanon’s continuity, the unity of its people, and the preservation of their security. This has been evident in your intensive efforts to extend the authority of the state across all Lebanese territory and to implement international resolutions in close coordination with the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) and the Cessation of Hostilities Monitoring Committee. This includes your deployment in the South and support for the return of residents to their towns and villages.
In addition, exceptional measures have been taken to combat terrorism and organized crime, to secure and protect the northern and eastern borders, and to ensure the safety of the municipal and local elections—an embodiment of the will of Lebanon, the determination of its people, their commitment to the country’s unique model, and their aspiration for a better future. All of this takes place as the Israeli enemy continues its persistent violations and aggression against our country and our people, maintaining its occupation of parts of our land and obstructing the full deployment of the LAF in the South—blatantly violating all relevant international resolutions.
Fellow Troops,
With your will and sacrifices, you offer a noble and honorable example of absolute dedication to Lebanon. You keep hope alive in the hearts of the Lebanese and reinforce the well-earned trust of brotherly and friendly nations in the LAF’s role, competence, and professionalism. Remain, as I have always known you, a formidable shield protecting our nation from the winds of discord, safeguarding civil peace, and serving as a beacon of hope for all who believe in this country. In return, the leadership remains steadfast in its commitment to you, dedicating all its resources to stand by your side and to improve your living conditions in every possible way.
The challenges are great, but they pale in comparison to your determination and sacrifice. Let us move forward together with strength and steadfastness to build the homeland that the Lebanese people truly deserve.
Yarzeh, on 22/5/2025
General Haykal, LAF Commander
