Wednesday, 04 March 2026

The following statement was issued by the Lebanese Army Command – Directorate of Orientation:

In light of the continued Israeli attacks on various regions, coinciding with the incursion of Israeli forces into Lebanese territory in a violation of international resolutions and an infringement on Lebanese sovereignty, and following the launching of rockets and drones from Lebanese territory, the Army Command affirms that it is continuing to implement the decisions of the political authorities in a manner that serves the supreme national interest.

In this context, the Army Command continues to coordinate with the United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon (UNIFIL) and the committee supervising the cessation of hostilities agreement (Mechanism) to halt Israeli attacks. Meanwhile, military units are carrying out repositioning of certain border points within their designated sectors of responsibility, given the limited available resources, and are implementing exceptional measures to maintain security and prevent armed displays across various regions.

Within this framework, army checkpoints over the past two days have detained 26 Lebanese nationals and one Palestinian in several areas for illegal possession of weapons and ammunition.

These units have also reinforced their deployment along the eastern border in coordination with the relevant Syrian authorities.

The Army Command calls on citizens to comply with the instructions of the deployed units in order to ensure their safety.

The seized items have been handed over, and investigations with the detainees have begun under the supervision of the competent judiciary.
