Thwarting People-Smuggling Operation across the Sea

The Army Command- Directorate of Orientation issued the following statement:

A patrol of Army Navy Forces seized on 03/10/2020, a boat used for smuggling people, and thwarted the smuggling of 37 people (34 Syrians, including 7 children and 3 women, in addition to two Lebanese and one Palestinian).

The boat was seized five miles from the Ramekin Islands, after being spotted by the army's naval radars, which maintain their surveillance to prevent smuggling operations.

After investigation and follow-up, the Lebanese Intelligence Directorate arrested (B.S.) for organizing and preparing the smuggling operation.

The detainees were handed over to the competent authorities.
