A training meeting to evaluate the cooperation in the field of various courses for the LAF officers in the USA
With the presence of member of the military council Major General P.S.C George Chreim representing LAF Commander General Joseph Aoun and the Chargé d’Affaires of the US Embassy Mr. Edward white who was heading a delegation from the embassy as well as several officers who attended various courses in the USA, a training meeting was held in the military complex – Jounieh in order to evaluate the cooperation in this field during the previous phases. Mr. White delivered a speech in which he commended the competence of the Lebanese officers who attended courses in the USA and confirmed the confidence of his country’s authorities in the role of the LAF in protecting the unity and stability of Lebanon and their commitment to continue their support in order to boost military cooperation with it on different levels.
Major General Chreim delivered a speech on the occasion in which he welcomed the audience and commended the fix determination of the US authorities to continue supporting the LAF, which highly contributed to boosting its capabilities to face several difficulties and challenges, mainly terrorism.
From what he said: “The military support provided by several friend countries, mainly the United States of America, had a major role in achieving this victory in the fastest possible time”. He added: “It was obvious to all sides that the terrorist ISIS organization was hit with a major defeat at the regional and global levels and its end is almost inevitable at the organizational and military levels. However, the danger remains valid for the remaining members of this organization, including cells and individuals, to resort to committing terrorist acts using new methods. Therefore, we have to remain wide awake and intensify our security efforts in order to nip any terrorist activity in its bud. We, in the Lebanese Army, look forward with hope and confidence to maintaining our cooperation with the US side in the coming stages as a way to guarantee the stability of Lebanon and contribute to the international effort in fighting terrorism.”
